This in- volved the reaching of a mutual understand- ing by the leaders of the three religious com- munities in the country; and all three groups combined in the development of an inde- pendent Albanian literature and culture. Most of these men were compelled to flee abroad; thus many of them found the opportunity for writing and having their work printed in Sofia, from which city it was smuggled back into the country.
